For Metallica’s Class Guide, The visual metaphor throughout was that of Alchemy, or (to be more specific), to make gold from lead. Not only would this offer the obvious similies for “Heavy Metal” but more so, it speaks well to how Metallica’s ambition and good ol’ hard work propelled them from the underground into mega stars within the heavy metal genre.
